Food Good For Your Teeth

Diet doesn't directly impact the health of your teeth; eating healthy foods and limiting foods high in sugar or acid will help reduce your risk for cavities. When you consume starchy or sugary foods, you aren't just feeding yourself but are also feeding germs (bacteria) that can lead to tooth decay or gum disease. Here are some food items good for your teeth:

Cheese

Cheese is a snack that is good for your teeth. Cheese contains a lot of calcium and casein, which strengthens your teeth. Cheese is also full of protein, which builds strong enamel. Cheese also contains the mineral phosphate, which helps remineralize your teeth.

Milk

Milk is a drink that is good for your teeth. It also contains a lot of calcium and protein, which are good for your body.

Drinking milk at night helps to protect your teeth from cavities and decay because it contains phosphorus. This mineral can strengthen your teeth by creating more solid tooth enamel.

Leafy Greens

Leafy greens contain calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, and vitamins A, C, and K. Calcium and phosphorous both aid in strengthening the bone structure. Vitamin A aids in tooth development, while vitamin C aids in gum health. Vitamin K aids the body in absorbing calcium and phosphorous.

Strawberries

Strawberries are an excellent source of vitamin C, which aids the body in producing collagen, a protein important for healthy gums. Vitamin C also promotes healing, which can help with recovery after a dental procedure.

Water

Water is vital to your dental health. Not only does it keep your mouth clean, but it can also help wash away food and other debris that can get stuck in your mouth, causing cavities and other dental issues.

Crunchy foods

Crunchy foods, like raw carrots, apples, and popcorn kernels, can scrape away plaque from your teeth. The act of chewing hard foods also produces more saliva, which is good for your oral health.

Seafood

Seafood contains healthy amounts of phosphorus and vitamin D. It also contains calcium, magnesium, and phosphorous, which are good for your teeth.

Phospholipids, which are fatty acids, help to prevent tooth loss. They also help prevent gum disease. Eating fish is also good for your gums because it stimulates your gums.

Seafood also contains iodine, which can help prevent cavities. However, fish that has been smoked contains a large amount of sodium, which is bad for your teeth.
